“I think that God is the greatest designer. All the beauty He created
and which surrounds us in nature is overwhelming…. I have simply been
copying nature, trying to get her beauty into fashion,” says Roberto Cavalli, in an
exclusive interview with ELLE India. So, it felt rather apt to be shooting the July cover in
the leafy outdoors of the Just Cavalli Café in Milan.
There is a natural uprising in the air. You see neon-green scarves over
drab grey suits on the streets of Milan.
In Paris, a shade that can only be called
grass-green is seen in chic cocktail dresses. And in India, art meets colour to create a
whole new design as seen in the feature, Some Kind of Wonderland.
The beauty palette mimics the sea by adding every shade of aqua to
the make-up box. What makes this trend a perfect one for summer is the fact that
these shades are just made for our skin. |

disease. Which makes her ELLE India’s favourite celebrity –since
we work towards the same cause.FLOWER

he proves he can still tell a fine tale.Similarly, watching
Harrison Ford as the more mature Indiana Jones is
like drinking very fine wine. You relish the story
even more.
Look at the example of legendary designer Yves Saint Laurent.
As we started to prepare a tribute to the genius, we discovered
that he literally wrote the fashion lexicon as we know it today. The
tuxedo for women, the safari jacket, the transparent blouse, the leopard print…need
I say more?
Even while he was alive, YSL was creating history. At 71,
when he passed away, he was the legacy and literature of fashion.
ELLE salutes his life and times.
